Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is a therapy based on the science of learning and behaviour. It focuses on understanding how behaviour works, how it’s affected by the environment, and how learning takes place. ABA helps improve social, communication, and life skills by using evidence-based strategies tailored to your child’s specific needs. We’ll work with you to set meaningful goals and create an enjoyable learning experience for your child.
ABA serves as the foundation for many other therapeutic approaches and tools, shaping the way a variety of evidence-based services are delivered. Approaches such as the Practical Functional Assessment and Skill-Based Treatment (PFA-SBT), the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) are all built on the principles of ABA. Additionally, ABA informs the design of programs for toilet training, social skills development, and other specialised interventions aimed at improving quality of life. These therapies, which you can learn more about on the Little Co website, all draw on the core methodologies of ABA, tailoring strategies to address a wide range of developmental and behavioural goals. By applying ABA principles, these approaches offer structured, effective, and compassionate support to help children thrive in various aspects of their lives.
The duration of ABA therapy varies for each child, as it’s tailored to their individual needs. On average, children typically engage in ABA therapy for 1 to 5 years. Some may start with full-time sessions and gradually transition to part-time programs or a consulting approach and others may start with the consulting or part-time program. Keep in mind that ABA therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach—your child’s progress will be regularly assessed, and treatment plans will be adjusted accordingly. We’ll discuss this in detail during your no cost initial chat.
While we primarily support children aged 0–12, we can also consult with families of older children and young adults to explore their goals and needs. Together, we’ll decide if our approach suits your family or if a referral to another professional would be more appropriate. We are committed to working within our professional and ethical scope, ensuring any client we accept can be supported effectively by our expertise and credentials.
Our pricing follows the NDIS guidelines (link provided here). If you are self-managed or plan-managed under the NDIS, you can use your funding for our services. During our no cost consultation, we’ll discuss your child’s needs and create a tailored plan that offers value and aligns with best-practice recommendations. Our fee structure is designed to meet your child’s unique requirements while staying transparent and fair.
